 2023 Preview

Welcome to year 12, or 13, idk I lost count.  Big year for Sacko Bowl as we are going through a soft reboot in the league.  That is nerd speak, as the Millenials know, for a partial fresh start but not a complete restart.  It is not the down time in-between Cialis doses as the Boomers know it.

Important details:

- Draft Date: Sat 8/19/23 Patchogue

Time TBD est 6/7ish

- Millenials owe Village Idiot

- Biggest rule change: Addition of Superflex position(Offensive Player or OP in ESPN speak)

This changes the league and the ADP's drastically.  Do your research.

- No QB's can be kept for this year only.

I tried to figure out a compromise for the 1 keepable QB from the previous year and the power QB's hold from their ADP is too great to legally allow shenanigans.

- Extended draft and rosters to 16 rounds/ spots.

This is to make way for the OP/ Superflex which is a completely new roster spot in addition to everything existing.

- Hard cap of 4 QB's per roster.

The league manages this so do not draft an illegal amount of QB's.  Nobody likes a Douschey QB hoarder.

- Following any trade, the traded players can not be sent in another trade for 4 NFL weeks.

Superflex rules will be extra challenging.  We dont want the Boomers swapping their QB2 and QB3 each week.  This will prevent the obvious shenanigans.

Proposed rule changes:

Theses will likely go into place unless it offends the majority of the league.

- TE premium scoring

This is not as big of a deal as it sounds.  With the addition of superflex there is one position that is completely diminished other than K/DST and that is the TE's.  I tested this out and it works on ESPN, I made the TE position 1 Point per Reception instead of .5 PPR.  I think this brings nice balance to the Force.

- Playoff Seeding

Currently ESPN does not give an option to reseed playoffs and I believe it has in the past but I really cannot remember.  I hateeee having to update these things manually and I would rather leave it as is as we have for a few seasons so we would have to decide and put it in writing before this season starts but this leads me to the next idea:

- Transition from ESPN to the Sleeper App?

Sleeper is hands down the best free fantasy football app out there.  ESPN has boned us a few times and I am honestly surprised that I could set up a super flex and TE premium scoring otherwise I would have said 100% we are changing.  The only thing ESPN has over Sleeper is the history from previous years but the laziness of the ESPN app has boned us a few times.  For example, they didn't randomize the schedule one year and at some point they removed the ability to reseed playoff matchups.  Fuck them.

- Implement WHEEL OF DEATH for 2024 draft (next year)

This one I am passionate about because it adds a bit of randomness,  balances the league out a bit, and will add a huge element of fun.  I figured out the logistics and it works.

With the addition of 2 more rounds, Superflex spot, and not keeping QBs this year the keeper market will be FLOODED next year.  We all know the Rich will get Richer and the Weeks will get Weaker.

Before the 2024 everyone will have to nominate 2-3 Keepers (regardless if they are all super worth it).  Before the first round starts each team will have their own individual WHEEL OF DEATH spin on my TV screen.  People will cheer.  The spinner will sweat.  It will be awesome.  Wherever the wheel stops that player (or empty spot for those who designate 2 keeper instead of 3) will not be able to be kept and be thrown back into the pool as a datable player.

I will explain this one in person.  I think it is too cool to not implement.

Thank you for reading this far and for Ed and Mark for pretending to read this far, you tried your best, A for effort.  Now on to the Keeper values.

For this year only the values are shot as we are going through a soft reboot.  Again, for you Boomers, this is not in reference to Boner Pills.  With the values taking a hit for this year, I did not give a star rating and instead gave an "x" if they seem keepable.
